General Installation Advice:

Equipment mounting

Make sure the units are mounted clear of any obstructions ie. parts of a building, trees etc.in order to allow them to radiate freely.

Ensure any external enclosures are sealed.

Antenna Mounting

Antennas can be mounted to have vertical or horizontal polarisation. Make sure any high gain antennas are mounted so the elements of the antenna are vertical to the ground ie. if they were to be extended they would dig into the gound.

Incorrect mounting of the antenna can greatly reduce the range.

Power Supplies:

Always use analogue power supplies

DO NOT use switch mode power supplies.

DO NOT use power supplies used for charging batteries.

DO NOT share the power supply with other units.

Troubleshooting FAQs

Why do I only get a black or blue picture on the monitor

If there is no video signal going into the monitor there will be nothing to display hence the black picture.

If the monitor is connected to a matrix or a multiplexer the picture might be blue and a Video Loss warning might be displayed. This can happen if there is no video signal to the input of the matrix / MUX or the signal is weak.

Remove the suspect video input from the matrix/MUX and connect it directly to the monitor.

If a picture appears then the video signal is too weak for the matrix/MUX :-

Check all cables for bad connections, check for double terminations and also check the level of video going into the video transmitter, this should be 1V p-p when correctly terminated. The GL2400 and CCT2440 systems are equipped with output video amplifiers which can be used to adjust the video level.

If no picture appears on the monitor:-

Check video cables for correct connection and if necessary continuity.

Make sure both Tx/Rx are powered and on the same channel.

Check that a video source is connected to the input of the Tx and the output of the Rx is connected to the monitor/matrix/mux.

Why there is noise (Snow) on the monitor

If the video receiver is connected to the monitor but it doesn't receive a radio signal on its frequency channel then snow will appear on the monitor, similar to that of an untuned TV.

Make sure Tx is powered.

Check that the Tx channel matches that of the Rx.

Make sure the system is in range, the correct antennas are used and are connected properly.

Why is my picture scrolling

Make sure the V-Hold of the monitor is not responsible.

If the scrolling picture is also of poor quality or dark the video level might be too low causing loss of sync pulse.

Check termination's at both the Transmitter end (if the signal is coming from a source other than a camera) and Receiving end (check for any double terminations).

Check the level of video going into the video transmitter, this should be 1V p-p when correctly terminated

Move the Tx and/or Rx up - down - left - right and watch the monitor for improved quality.

Why do I get a B&W instead of colour picture on the monitor

Make sure the monitor is not B&W and that the chroma control is correctly adjusted.

Make sure the camera used is not B&W

If the picture is also of poor quality the video level might be too low.

Check termination's at both the Transmitter end (if the signal is coming from a source other than a camera) and Receiving end (check for any double terminations).

Check the level of the video source connected to the Tx, this should be 1V p-p when correctly terminated

Move the Tx and/or Rx up - down - left - right and watch the monitor for improved quality.

Should the problem persist then equipment should be substituted one unit at a time until the defective item is identified
